Smartsheet Open Dashboard Reports in New Tab

When you click a report link inside a Smartsheet dashboard, Smartsheet navigates away from the dashboard in the same browser tab, replacing your current view. There is no native open-in-new-tab button in dashboard report widgets, so reviewing multiple reports side by side requires constant manual tab management or accepting that you lose the dashboard view.

Frequently asked questions

Does Smartsheet have a built-in open-in-new-tab option for dashboard reports?

No. Smartsheet dashboard report widgets link directly in the same tab. Right-clicking to open in a new tab works as a browser default, but Grid Tools adds a visible, accessible button directly on the widget.

Does this work on all dashboard widget types or only report widgets?

The open-in-new-tab button is added to report-type dashboard widgets and to items in directory-style navigation. Other widget types such as charts and metrics are not affected.

Does right-clicking and choosing 'Open in new tab' already solve this?

Right-click works as a browser fallback, but it requires a precise right-click on the link element. Grid Tools adds a clearly labeled button that is keyboard-accessible and works on any click target within the widget.

Does this work the same in both Chrome and Firefox?
