Smartsheet Go to Row

Smartsheet does not have a native go-to-row control. On sheets with thousands of rows, finding a specific row requires scrolling, applying a filter, or using Ctrl+F to search for a cell value — none of which work when you know the row number but not the content. Sharing a row reference with a colleague requires them to scroll to the same position manually.

Scroll to find the row
On a 2,000-row sheet, reaching row 1,847 means scrolling through the entire grid or dragging the scroll bar and estimating position.
Search by cell content
Users run Ctrl+F to search for a value they expect to be in the row — which only works if they remember the content, not just the row number.
Apply a temporary filter
To isolate a row, some users add a filter condition, note the content, then remove the filter — adding steps and disrupting any existing filter state.
Share row locations verbally
Without a direct row reference, teams share row positions as 'scroll down to around row 450' or paste cell values for colleagues to search.

Frequently asked questions

Does Smartsheet have a Go to Row feature?

No. Smartsheet does not include a native go-to-row control. Grid Tools adds this directly to the toolbar inside Smartsheet.

Does Go to Row work with filtered views?

Go to Row navigates by absolute row number, not by filtered position. If the target row is hidden by an active filter, it will not be visible until the filter is removed.

Can I use Go to Row on a sheet with thousands of rows?

Yes. Go to Row is designed for large sheets and jumps directly to any row number regardless of sheet size.

Does jumping to a row change my filter or sort settings?

No. Go to Row only scrolls the grid — it does not modify filters, sort order, or any other sheet settings.
